Fletcher Jones and Skender Take Partnership to Next Level with Sleek New Service Facility

“Skender Construction” and “Fletcher Jones” go together like “Audi” and “autobahn.”

Skender, one of Chicago’s leading general contractors, has completed a host of Audi and Mercedes-Benz dealerships for the Las Vegas-based auto group over the years, including the 79,000 square foot LEED Silver certified Mercedes-Benz showroom in Chicago.

So when Fletcher Jones wanted to expand their already impressive Midwestern footprint — or shall we say tread marks? — with a brand new $50 million service center, who do you think they called?

Skender pulled out all the stops for the 380,000 square foot Elston Service and Parts Center, which occupies an 8.5 acre plot in Chicago’s Goose Island neighborhood. The sleek facility opened in August after 56 weeks of highly efficient construction: Skender managed to install 88 60-foot drilled belled piers in just 14 days.

And in typical green fashion, Skender found a way to excavate, crush, and reuse 22,000 cubic yards of concrete from the old foundations onsite — that’s enough to fill 6.5 olympic-size swimming pools.

Truly everything about the new service center is state-of-the-art, right down to the people that work there: Fletcher Jones employs two of three regional recipients of the Mercedes-Benz PreC1sion Award, which recognizes individuals for automotive service excellence.

Like what you see? We’ve got good news. Skender is working with Fletcher Jones on a brand new 92,000 square foot Audi sales facility just up the road.
