How does a brand that helps other brands tell their story tell its own story through its new HQ?
That was the question facing Cision as they embarked on the path to create their flagship headquarters in Chicago’s east loop neighborhood. With the help of general contractor Skender Construction and furniture dealer Henricksen, Cision created a 50,000 square foot space appropriately fitting for the global powerhouse Cision has become.
With honeycomb patterned carpet overlaid on a polished concrete floor, barnwood walls, and snaking light fixtures overhead, you know you’ve stepped into a unique space the second you step off the elevator.
More than a pretty office
Cision’s values, used as operating principles for the business, form the basis for an inclusive, collaborative, and results-oriented culture where everyone has a voice, A-game is the norm, and social is king.
The space was literally built around the culture. With most meeting areas and offices on the inside of the space, light streams in from the huge windows overlooking Millennium Park. The central café occupies at least 20% of the office and is constantly buzzing with action, whether coffee runs, games of ping pong or shuffleboard, or meetings taking place right at the communal tables throughout the space.
“The feedback we hear about why people choose to work at Cision,” says CEO Peter Granat, “is the people they work with.” With a team spanning nine countries, Cision is a melting pot of cultures and personalities. And with the values guiding the way, the global team is united in taking the global powerhouse to the next level.
